Developed strategic media plan for IRIN (Integrated Regional Information Networks).  Focused on leveraging open source media tools to distribute video produced in Africa and Middle East for educational purposes.

Provided strategic development consulting, particularly for the youth program and technology services.

 

Queens Museum of Arts; Queens, NY, (2004)

Developed technology and arts program for the museum’s Youth Adults Leadership Program, a 5-yr funded program by The Ford Foundation.

HIGHLIGHT OF SELECTED PROJECTS

Hip-Hop Education Summit, www.h2ed.net

Organized and co-founded the Summit, creating the first Conference in 2003 to bring together educators, youth leaders, parents, social workers and education administrators to dialogue on best practices in using Hip-Hop as an educational tool.  The first conference in 2003  had over 400 attendees, the second in 2004  had over 1000 attendees.

 

YMSM Project (Young Men Having Sex with Men), www.apicha.org/ymsm

Part of Adult Committee that Advises youth in how to implement outreach projects that support their mission to create visibility around issues that face the youth in the Asian Pacific Islander community.  The mission of the YMSM Project is to combat AIDS-related discrimination, and to support, empower, and enhance the quality of life of Asian & Pacific Islander YMSM.  In 2004, the YMSM Project finished the third NYC subway ad series.

 

Leadership Through the Arts Program at Queens Museum of Art, www.queensmuseum.org

Part of the Advisory Committee that assisted the Museum in implementing and developing workshops that use popular culture as the teaching tool. I worked with Eyebeam Museum to develop the first Blogging Curriculum that taught community building through popular culture.  I also has the opportunity to teach and develop the curriculum for the Videomaking class that focused on community storytelling.  The Leadership Through the Arts Program provides social justice and art making workshops to Queens youth. 

 

Youth Media RSS Project; http://listenup.org/share

Co-conceptualized the beta-program in 2003 with other youth media organizers.  This project calls on all youth media organizations to implement syndication tools in order to generate, receive, and share news feeds to help mature the information sharing within the youth media field and maximize its impact.

Currently part of the Advisory Program, and has served as a consultant to conceptualize the college scholarship programs and annual fundraiser.  LBB gives out college scholarships to NYC high-school students active in HIV/AIDS education.
